When I was putting together the real life french country wedding in Poitou Charentes by David Blair last week, I was enchanted with David’s picture of the little flower girl. What caught my eye was that the little girl seemed to be having such relaxed fun in an adorable dress, without the stiffness that is so often caught on camera of children at weddings.
So what is the secret of dressing children for a wedding, how do you dress them in appropriate clothing whilst allowing them to be relaxed, able to move and still have fun? Today I look at cute flower girl dresses and paige boy outfits.
The French designed baby and children’s wear brand Château de sable has designed such a solution with the launch of its 2012 Summer Collection. Following the brand’s belief that ‘children should look like children’ the styles are timeless and often give a traditional look a modern twist.
For girls, the collection includes the beautiful Origami Flower Dress made from a soft French cotton/linen mix which has a decorated sash of hand made origami flowers. In white, this dress makes an elegant and understated flower girl dress. For those wishing to add a splash of colour, the dress is also available in fuchsia pink and red.
Other dresses in the latest collection for flower girls, include the Pleated Bodice Dress in white linen/cotton mix finished with a tie sash in pale pink or pale grey and the Hand Smocked Dress which has a unique hand smocked bodice, full skirt and grosgrain sash which comes in four colours. The collection also offers a wide selection of smart but not stuffy outfits for Page Boys. Preppy white cotton tailored trousers or long linen shorts can be teamed with mandarin collar shirts in white and then layered with a cotton knit tank top available in a variety of colours to co-ordinate with a wedding theme.
If you are planning a destination wedding, these flower girl dresses and paige boy outfits would travel well whilst allowing the children to be dressed appropriately, but soft and comfy allowing for happier children and then of course happier parents!
