Feather and Stone Photography is Seth & Tenielle, fine art film photographers from Brisbane, Australia although they are currently calling Botswana, Africa their home. The fabulous news is that this September they will be holding their very first European Field Trip, a 3 day workshop designed to teach attendees everything there is to know about shooting analog/film. It’s an intimate experience limited to only 15 attendees.

Seth & Tenielle said: “We feel film photography is a step back to what photography used to be about, slowing down, making intentional art. It made us fall in love with our craft all over again and we want to share that with others.”

The European Field Trip is going to be in beautiful Provence, France on 17-19 September, one of the most beautiful places in the world.  A quiet little haven on two hectares, South of the Alpilles, nestled between charming little villages, encircled by groves of almonds & olives, lavender & limestone that will play host to the field trip.

“This will be an opportunity to clear your mind of life’s unimportant anxieties, take a deep breath and spend 3 days with us.”

Joining Feather and Stone for their Provence Field Trip is one of France’s premiere stylists and FWS Sponsor Kerry Bracken from Lavender and Rose Weddings, who will be working  to create the most inspirational styled  shoots during the event. The epitome of romance in the form of Claire Pettibone gowns will be gracing the lovely models thanks to Blackburn Bridal Couture.

Provence Field Trip Q&A

Do I need to have experience in shooting film already?

No film shooting experience is required whatsoever. Just bring a film camera and an open mind.

Do I need to bring a film camera, if so, what sort should I buy?

Yes you will need to bring your own film camera & light meter. However you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to have a suitable film camera. We can recommend amazing film camera’s (& light meter’s) based on your budget, even starting from as little as $150AUD.

Do I need to buy a contax 645?

No. We recommend that you don’t if you’re just starting out. As part of our Field Trip we’ll be discussing all the different formats of film camera’s as well as the pro’s and con’s of each type.

Do I need to stay at your recommended hotel?

Not at all, you’re welcome to stay wherever you please. However our wonderful planner and stylist has negotiated group discounts at the location where we’re holding our workshop, which you’re welcome to take advantage of.

How much does the Field Trip Cost?

As a wedding blogger I provide comment and editorial on many wedding subjects, but one that is often overlooked are the true foundation for your wedding day – your bridal underwear!  Lingerie in general is a subject close to my heart, as being an ample bosomed blogger I know from personal experience the highs and lows of ill fitting and ill suited lingerie.

When I was planning my wedding I spent hours looking at beautiful gowns and trying them on, but I never considered wearing them for 14 hours and the underwear that I would need to enable my bridal look to be maintained.  Who actually does this when choosing their dream dress?

You try a dress on in a bridal boutique for all of 15 mins, often it doesn’t fit as it is a sample, you make excuses that ‘your’ dress once tailored will fit and never consider the functionality that has to happen in that dress.  Kneeling in the case of being blessed in an Abbey, sitting through a 3 hour wedding breakfast and not to mention trying to participate in an elegant dance.

As it is just you and me reading this post, I will let you in on a little secret.  Being Miss Prepared I did in fact decide to have a trial of my wedding underwear to see if it was comfortable with an afternoon tea with the ladies.  So there I was sat sipping champagne and enjoying decadent pastries, in my ivory strapless bridal basque, when snap!  I realised immediately that it was the boning in my basque had broken and I was at risk of the day heading south in more than one way.

I grabbed my pashmina from my bag and drapped over my shoulders, sat through the next 1.5hrs barely breathing or moving in case the other one broke and at the end hastily said my goodbyes.  Needless to say I am glad that I had a practice and an exceptionally sturdy replacement basque was found, that I believe was made of chainmail!

Assisting the students was Frédérique Sivadier from The Wedding TeaRoom who you might remember was the creative force behind the sweet french flair inspiration shoot.  Frédérique says: “For my part,  I organized and I decorate weddings for 17 years but since a decade with the facilities of the image and exchange ideas with internet, marriage has changed in France. I love to train students and have them share their experiences, it is a real passion for me and I’m really proud of them and what they have managed to do for the first time and so little time!”

Happy Monday and the start of another fabulous week brimming with French wedding inspiration.  Today we are starting with a wedding in the gardens of Marie Antoinette at the Palace of Versailles.  Planning their wedding from Canada, Jennifer and James got married in an iconic location, the bride wearing Vintage Valentino wedding dress and the groom wearing Armani.  They choose WeddingLight for their wedding photography and Olivier went above and beyond for their big day.

Bride Jennifer takes us through her day: “Working with Olivier was a truly amazing experience! The majority of our interaction was done via email since my husband and I were planning our wedding in France from Canada, yet the process was so easy and stress free. Olivier was receptive to all of our (many) questions and requests and on the day of the wedding he went above and beyond for us!

We had initially planned to marry in the gardens of our hotel but with Olivier’s suggestion and guidance, my husband and I were actually married in the gardens of Marie Antoinette at the Palace of Versailles!!! Olivier and his crew were amazing – they let us be ourselves and caught all of those little in-between moments that represent the true intimacy of a wedding!

Olivier was a true artist, able to guide us through the photo experience without forcing any moments, yet still so open and receptive to any suggestions we had and accommodated all of our requests, no matter how ridiculous or impractical! We spent an extra week in France after our wedding and we received high resolution copies of our photographs before we even left France!

Our wedding video came shortly after and when my husband and I watched it together, we cried!! It was so beautiful and we had no idea that the videographer had even been filming during the sweet moments he captured!! The wedding light team is nothing less than incredible and we’re so grateful they were there with us to document and create our wedding day!!!

Happy Sunday – how is everyone and what are we all up to today?  I have my monthly planning meeting with Mr T, blogging and then off to the coast for a walk and some photos. That sounds like a lot, best get the first pot of coffee on and get cracking on with The Sunday R&R.

On Monday we started with a romantic weekend wedding in Versailles, when Dominic proposed to Vanessa’s with her Grandmother’s vintage wedding ring at a beautiful log cabin in Canada, it was only the beginning of their story, that ended with a romantic weekend wedding in Versailles France. On Tuesday I was excited and a little sad as it was Belle Bride Hollydawn’s last post before she heads off to get married, see her final pre-wedding post.

Wednesday saw the start of Cannes week and I celebrated with an introduction to Cannes Film Festival 2013 – see full post.
