An Elegant Elopement in Dreamy Gordes

Our gorgeous bride and groom who travelled all the way from Georgia for an elegant elopement in dreamy Gordes share their beautiful day with us on the blog, captured by Maya Maréchal.

Gordes is a commune in the Vaucluse département in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in southeastern France. This gorgeous region boasts some of the best weather in France and with its breathtaking scenery it’s the perfect place to say ‘I Do’!

You really can’t help but fall in love with this region when you visit, everything about the area oozes charm and romance. Emily and Sean chose to tie the knot at the glamorous La Bastide de Gordes a 12th-century fortification on the edge of the hilltop village of Gordes, this luxe, seasonal spa hotel overlooks the parc naturel régional du Luberon.

Our bride Emily who wore a Rebecca Schoneveld gown married her prince charming in an intimate ceremony overlooking the picturesque commune…

“Gordes is perhaps one of my favourite villages in Provence to shoot an elopement or a wedding. The light during sunset in summer is glorious, its shade is orange, delicate, and earthy. This place is breathtaking and inspiring, add two beautiful people in love who flew all the way from Georgia to have their dream intimate, simple, and elegant elopement, we have perfection.”

We love this beautiful pool at La Bastide de Gordes, it looks so inviting and the perfect garden to throw a champagne and canapes cocktail hour. So elegant!

“Emily and Sean met when they were sixteen. As young lovers go, it was a beautiful friendship that bloomed into romance for ten years.”

Emily – “He proposed to me in St. Augustine, Florida in front of the old water wheel. Augustine is one of our favourite places and the first place we went on vacation together.”

Bride and Groom wedding morning gifts are just the sweetest, don’t you agree?

“It was indeed a very warm day in the south of France. Emily made her own bouquet and crown on the morning of the wedding day. I simply adore her attention to details. The ceremony was held in the gardens of the venue with the panoramic view of Gordes.”

Emily – ”I love the French culture, its simple elegance and charm… I found La Bastide de Gordes, and thought it was beautiful. Sean and I are both very laid back and love to travel. We wanted something intimate and fun, without all the stress. I also made my own bouquet and floral crown the day of the wedding. It was nothing short of amazing if not perfect. Truly a lovely day!”

Emily – “Dinner was one of the best parts of the day. We were sat at a private table on the patio of La Bastide’s restaurant overlooking Gordes. The weather, the food, and of course the company was great!”
